- Vincent Barros- This
student exemplifies the virtues that Dickinson is working to instill
in all students: he is trustworthy, competent, complex in his thinking,
and global minded. He has consistently gone above and beyond his “regular
duties” and works well with students and clubs of different backgrounds
and needs. He is respected by his peers for his hard work, honesty,
and values.
- Nadia Dodenova-
It is this student’s trustworthiness that makes her so deserving
of this award. Her work is second to none, and exceeds that of her contemporaries.
She takes seriously her role as a student employee and the quality of
her work is equivalent to a professional staff member. Her work directly
relates to the Dickinson Strategic Plan; by providing resources for
students to support Dickinson's useful education.
- Satomi Nakane-
This student is as sharp as they come. She thinks constantly of other
people and works tirelessly for her institution. She knows her job exceptionally
well, and her keen eye for detail and perceptive nature allows her to
always stay two steps ahead of where we need to be. She adapts quickly
to new situations and moves fluidly from topic to topic with a conscious
awareness of her audience.
The 2008 Dickinson College Student Employee of the Year received a Certificate
of Appreciation, and a $75.00 Visa Gift Card. This individual’s
name is also engraved on the Student Employee of the Year plaque which
hangs in the Career Center Library. Read some of the comments that were
received as a part of the nomination.
- Jerome Igle-
This student leads by example. This student has earned the loyalty,
respect and admiration of his peers, as well as the trust and confidence
of his superiors. He possesses maturity without affectation. I trust
him completely, often challenging him with tasks normally handled by
permanent staff. He is the hallmark of patience, he is flexible and
open to the ideas of others, and he is a consummate team player. This
student’s quality of service is exemplary. This student understands
our mission and exercises good judgment when interpreting policy. He
is a natural leader and understands how his work ethic and efforts impact
the greater good of his co-workers and the Dickinson community.
Jerome was also selected as the 2008 State of Pennsylvania Student Employee
of the Year by the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators
(NEASEA). Jerome received a Certificate of Appreciation and a $50 Visa
Gift Card from the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators.
