2011 Potter Lecture

The endowed Potter Lectureship has been established to honor Noel Potter Jr., Professor Emeritus of Geology at Dickinson. Once a year, preeminent geologists are brought to campus for a public and scientific lecture as part of the program. This year, Katharine Huntington from the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington will deliver two talks. 

The first, intended for a more general audience, is entitled "Plateaus to Paleoclimate: 'Clumped' isotopes in Earth Science" and is scheduled for Thur. 21 Apr. at 7:00 p.m. in Althouse 106.  Prof. Huntington's second talk will target a more technical audience and is entitled “Signals in sand: Detrital mineral thermochronology and the evolution of orogenic landscapes”.  The second talk is schedule for Fri. 22 Apr. at 12:00 p.m. in Kaufman 134.  The Department of Earth Sciences will lunch and drinks for the afternoon lecture.
