 Seasonal Menu Specialist Grant-Funded Position Available for the fall 2010
 
The College Farm and Dining Services seek a dynamic student interested in developing seasonal menu options for the meal plan.
The “Seasonal Menu Specialist” will work with chefs, local producers, the College Farm and fellow students to develop recipes that feature seasonally and regionally specific ingredients. A successful applicant will be self-motivated and have culinary experience, as well as an interest in developing recipes that are nutritionally dense and flavorful. Prior experience with health and nutrition work or counseling, experience with raising food and/or maintaining a seasonal diet, as well as hands-on training in menu development will be highly favored among the applicants. Position requires 15 hours of work per week and offers a competitive pay rate. Application deadline is April 9th.

Health Studies Internship Available!

Work for the Respiratory Health Association in Chicago this summer!
Organization Name: Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago
Location: Chicago, IL
Description: This internship was passed along by Ms. Audrey Eisenberg, '02. Summer internships will likely pay a small stipend, and would provide a fast-paced work experience for someone interested in gaining exposure to public health issues and/or general nonprofit operations.
 
We will require an 8 or 12-week commitment of about 20 hours per week.
 
Areas of need/interest at Respiratory Health Association typically include:
•Communications / marketing – writing calendar listings, media advisories, human interest stories, etc. on topics including public health, air quality and special (fundraising) events; web updates; special projects related to branding and targeted messaging
•Event support – supporting our summer events, including a bike trek and half-marathon in early August (PR, website work, e-communications with participants, incorporation of social media components in event strategies; general event administration, etc.)
•Public policy – working with our health and environmental policy teams to draft briefings for local/state legislators, mobilize volunteers to take action on specific issues, etc.
•Fundraising – grant writing, prospect research, planning for Oct.-Dec. "end of year" fundraising appeals and e-appeals
 
Qualifications: Seeking rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. No graduating seniors.
