A Note on the Text: Resisting Bodies: Narratives of Italian Partisan Women
is a translation of texts that explore the experience of partisan women
in Italy between 1943 and 1945. The authors have selected short stories
and excerpts from novels and autobiographies that raise or address the
question of gender within the partisan experience. These texts provide
the American reading public with a long-needed access to the experience
of World War II from a perspective that history and literature have
often considered marginal.
