2013 General Omar N. Bradley Chair in Strategic Leadership Recipient

International Studies Department Welcomes:

LTG James M. Dubik (U.S. Army, Ret.), a Senior Fellow at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), currently conducts research, writes, and briefs on behalf of the Institute and is the 2013 General Omar N. Bradley Chair in Strategic Leadership, shared by the Army War College, Dickinson College, and Penn State University's Dickinson School of Law and School of International Affairs. General Dubik will be teaching a cross-listed course in Political Science/International Studies on Monday afternoons in the spring semester of 2013. The course is titled "War: What's Justified and What's Not?

Course Description:  War is one of the most consequential acts a nation can undertake; it involves life and death decisions and permanently alters individual lives as well as the lives of political communities.  This course will discuss the basics of modern just war theory and use the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and against Al Qaeda and their affilates to challenge some of the tenents of that theory.
