Chuck Barone, Professor of Economics, received the
Distinguished Teaching Award. Recognizing outstanding teaching, the award is
the highest honor given to a Dickinson faculty member. Barone, who received the
honor at a recent faculty meeting, was described by Neil Weissman, Provost and
Dean at Dickinson College, as "heterodox, pluralist, radical, and above
all impactful. More than any other contribution, our awardee’s legacy lies in
challenging the complacency of mainstream thinking and of convictions rooted in
shallow experience and privilege. His pioneering work in developing a
“contending perspectives” model has served as a cornerstone of our economics
curriculum and more".
