The Writing Program
and First-Year Seminar Program would like to announce the fifth annual FYS
Excellence in Writing Awards.
We are presenting up to three awards of $100 each for the best essays written
in FYS classes. The essays can be of any length, in any genre, and
for any FYS course. We accept one submission per student, and the essay
must have been written in Fall 2013 for a First-Year Seminar. You may
revise your work with the help of professors, peers, or writing tutors as many
times as you would like up until the due date.
We ask that all submissions include a cover sheet with the title of the essay,
your name, the number and name of the FYS course, and the name of the FYS
instructor. You should send your submissions electronically to the
Writing Program at email@example.com or drop them off at the Norman M. Eberly
Writing Center, located on the Main Floor of the library. The contest
closes at 4:00 p.m. on December 6.
The winners will be notified in January and receive their awards at the 2014
Alpha Lambda Delta Induction Ceremony.
