It’s time for Dickinson’s annual Networking Day—a day for alumni to return to campus and talk with students about starting their careers.

Friday, Nov. 4
7-9 p.m. Alumni/Student Coffee and Dessert Mixer
Saturday, Feb. 5
9 a.m.-noon Student Mock Interviews
noon-1 p.m. Lunch on own- students and alumni are encouraged to set up one-on-one lunch meetings during this time. Alumni who register for lunch will be given a Dining Hall voucher at registration. The Message Board above can be utilized to make connections in advance of the day.
1-2 p.m. Break-out Session #1 ( locations available at registration )
Becoming a Professional - Learn the rules of behaving professionally both inside and outside the workplace, as well as how to deal with workplace politics.
Securing a Job in the Non-Profit Sector – What differences can you expect when networking for nonprofit careers? These alumni will discuss conducting a job search in the non-profit field.
Securing a Job in the Federal Government – Alumni will offer insight into the federal government hiring process, including where to find opportunities, how to apply, and tips to keep in mind.
Securing a Job in Finance – Learn from alumni the importance networking has when job searching in finance. Alums will offer job searching tips, and insight into finance careers.
How to Work with a Recruiter (for alumni) - Recruiters can be a valuable part of anyone’s job search. What do they do and how do you find a good one?
2:15-3:15 p.m. Break-out Session #2 ( locations available at registration )
Marketing Yourself to Employers – Panelists will discuss what employers looks for in candidates and how to make yourself marketable.
Succeeding in Graduate School – Hear from alumni about their experiences searching for, applying to and making decisions about graduate school, as well as what it’s like to be a graduate school student.
Succeeding in Law School – Hear from alumni about their experiences searching for, applying to and making decisions about law school, as well as what it’s like to be a law school student.
Succeeding in Medical School – Hear from alumni about their experiences searching for, applying to and making decisions about medical school, as well as what it’s like to be a medical school student.
Alternative Options for After Graduation – For those considering taking time off before embarking on their career or enrolling in graduate school, this session will outline options, pros and cons, how to find opportunities, and what to do when the experience concludes.
Please note: All panelists and moderators are arranged seperately through the career center. In signing up, students and alumni are registering for Break-Out Sessions as attendees of that session.

For alumni, there is no charge for any of the day’s events because you are providing a service to our students. Travel costs and overnight accommodations are, however, at your own expense. A block of rooms has been reserved at the downtown Comfort Suites hotel. Contact the hotel at (717) 960-1000 by October 19 to receive the Networking Day group rate of $97.
