Entry Requirements

Secondary School Course Completion

The minimum requirement for entrance is the satisfactory completion of a secondary school program of at least 16 units, which would include the following:

  • four units of English
  • two (preferably three) units of one foreign language
  • three units of natural science
  • two units of social science
  • three units of college preparatory mathematics.

The remaining units should be within these academic areas. Most applicants offer more than the minimal requirements. Contact your regional counselor for questions.

Application Requirements

First-year candidates are required to submit the following information before decisions can be made on their applications:

  • Common Application
  • Dickinson College Supplemental Form
  • Secondary School Report and Midyear Report (official secondary school transcript(s) which list all courses and grades to be completed by the guidance counselor, college adviser, headmaster or principal)
  • Teacher Evaluation (one required, two recommended from a teacher who instructed the candidate in English, math, science, social science/history or a foreign language)
  • official SAT I or ACT test results (optional for admission, but required for academic scholarship consideration). SAT II Subject Test scores are not required for admission to Dickinson, although applicants may submit these scores as additional information in support of their application.To have scores sent directly to Dickinson from the testing agency, use code 2186 for SATs and code 3550 for ACT. For international students taking the TOEFL test, use code 2186.
  • non-refundable $65 application fee
  • Early Decision Agreement (if applying as an Early Decision candidate).
