STUDENT INTERVIEWER SELECTION & TRAINING

Students invited to assume this prestigious volunteer leadership position are recognized throughout the Dickinson community as exemplarily Dickinsonians--citizen-leaders who are community-minded and intellectually engaged. Moreover, students selected for this position are regarded as professional members of the admissions staff and are held to the same expectations in their training and conduct.

Selection
For consideration as a candidate for the Student Interviewer Program, students must receive a nomination for the position from a Dickinson faculty member.  Based on these nominations, individual students are invited to apply.  Members of the program are selected through a rigorous application process requiring students

  1. To submit further support for their candidacy in the form of a faculty or staff recommendation letter.
  2. To demonstrate their qualifications and their knowledge of Dickinson College through a written application and two required essays.
  3. To successfully interview with a team of admissions counselors and staff.

Training
To equip them with the skills they will need to be successful interviewers, students who are invited to assume this leadership position undergo a two week intensive training program modeled on the interview training for new admissions counselors.
