Home School Admissions Criteria



Required Admissions Criteria Checklist

1. Application for Admission (Common Application)
2. Dickinson College Supplemental Form including the Required Statement
3. Essay (see Common App for topics)
4. Resume of activities, experiences and leadership positions from the equivalent of grades 9-12
5. Grade report (transcript), evaluator's report and/or sample works by the student in a variety of subjects spanning grades 9-12
6. Transcript of any courses taken at traditional high school, community college or college
7. Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher*; the other from an evaluator, a second teacher, an employer or another adult who can affectively assess your achievement
8. One of the following:

  1. Diploma from a state-recognized source
  2. GED
  3. Comprehensive representation of the student's grades 9-12 curriculum via portfolio, course outlines, syllabi or log book.

*Parent's recommendation as primary teacher is welcome, along with at least one other recommendation

Additional Criteria

1. Submission of SAT 1 or ACT scores (optional for admission)
2. Additional material and recommendations at the student's discretion or at the request of the admissions committee

Strongly recommended, though not required, are:

  • a campus visit
  • information session
  • personal interview
