Grad-School Agreements in Medicine/Health



Through Dickinson’s pre-health program, students interested in careers in health care are advised and mentored in preparation for the next step. Students recommended by the pre-health committee have had great success—as demonstrated by a medical-school acceptance rate of 88 percent. Now, agreements with the following outstanding graduate programs further support our students’ success in pursuing advanced study.

The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing

3/1 – Accelerated Second-Degree Baccalaureate Option

Following three years at Dickinson, with at least a 3.20 GPA and grades of at least B in the required prerequisite coursework, students may enter the 13.5-month nursing program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

Students successfully completing this program will be awarded a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College and a bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

3/2 – Traditional Second-Degree Baccalaureate Option

Following three years at Dickinson, with at least a 3.20 GPA and grades of at least B in the required prerequisite coursework, students may enter the 21-month nursing program.

Student successfully completing this program will be awarded a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College and a bachelor of science with a major in nursing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

4/1 or 4/2 – Traditional or Accelerated Second-Degree Baccalaureate Options

Dickinson graduates with at least a 3.20 GPA and grades of at least B in the required prerequisite coursework can pursue either the 13.5-month option or the 21-month option.

Following successful completion of the nursing program, graduates will be awarded the bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

B.S./MSN, B.S./MSN/MPH, B.S./MSN/MBA, B.S./MSN/Ph.D., or B.S./Ph.D.

Any of the options above provide the added benefit of admission into the master of science degree with a major in nursing (MSN) and or the doctor of philosophy in nursing (MSN/Ph.D. or Ph.D.). The length of time needed to complete these programs will be dependent upon the baccalaureate and master’s option selected.

Jefferson School of Population Health, Jefferson Medical College

Dickinson students with a 3.3 GPA or higher receive preferential admission to the Jefferson School of Population Health.
