International Travel Options



Our office highly recommends you fly into Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Airport (airport code MDT) if possible. If you choose to fly into another city in the region, such as New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, D.C., see the information below for transportation resources.

When considering your transportation options, take into account all the factors involved when flying into other cities and transferring to bus or train. Factors include the total cost of transfers, the total travel time, the possibility of travel mishaps (missed departures, late arrivals, lost luggage), and the physical toll of jet lag.

Transferring to/from the Philadelphia Airport

SEPTA - Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (www.septa.org) in Philadelphia has a line which runs from the airport, PHL, to Philadelphia. Two stations will be of use, Market East (Market Street between 10th and 12th Sts.) and 30th St. Station (30th St and Market Sts.) If you are at the bus station on Filbert St, the closest metro station is Market East. If you are at the train station, 30th St. Station, the metro runs in the same building.

Transferring to/from the Airport in the New York City Area

 There are three main airports in the New York City area:

  • Kennedy (JFK)
  • LaGuardia
  • Newark Liberty

While all three airports are accessible with public transportation, the most accessible is Reagan National, which lies directly on a metro rail line. For more information, see the airports’ websites. 

Beyond the transportation offered by Global Education, Dickinson College offers various shuttle services for all students to utilize during the break periods. Shuttles are arranged by the Department of Public Safety for a low fee.
