The Central Pennsylvania Symphony, conducted by Cheung Chau, presents a concert with soloist Blanka Bednarz, violin, Associate Professor of Music at Dickinson College on Saturday, May 14, at 7:30 pm at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle, PA. The program features Mozart's Violin Concerto no. 5 in A major, KV. 219 and works by Ravel, Grieg and Humperdinck, inspired by famous stories--Peer Gynt, Beauty and the Beast, Tom Thumb, Hansel and Gretal.
Bednarz has performed in venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Boston's Jordan Hall, UAM Hall in Poznan, Poland, on tour in China, in Lithuania, Germany, Sweden, Finland, UK, the Netherlands, Italy, etc. She is an avid chamber musician with her Atma Trio and other ensembles, and has collaborated with artists such as Rita Sloan, members of the Boston Symphony, Richard Stoltzman, Vega Quartet, Barbara Kubiak and others. She has recorded for Acte Prealable and Musica Omnia labels.
