Dickinson began offering a Certificate in Environmental Studies in 1981 and created the Environmental Studies and Environmental Science majors in 1994. Faculty, Students and Alumni of the Environmental Studies Department are brought together by an innovative and exciting curriculum and have created an engaged community of scholars and practitioners in a variety of environmental fields.

Students
Environmental Studies and Environmental Science Majors persue a variety of academic and co-curriculuar activities while studying at Dickinson. These students work together inside and outside of the class room to build a sense of academic community. They contribute to planning department functions such as the Earth Issues Seminar, social networks, and end-of semester department parties. Each year the department graduates about 20 students.

What is your favorite part about the ES Major?
The amazing classes, the personable professors, the hands-on aspect.
What are you hoping or planning to do after graduation?
Hopefully University of Texas Austin's dual master's degree program in Energy and Earth Resources and Public Affairs. I hope to focus on regional leadership in energy policy and management issues.
