The new tests replace the previous Content Knowledge and Productive Language Skills tests. The new tests are computer-delivered only and given by appointment through a national network of Prometric™ Testing Centers. These tests will be administered during several testing windows throughout the year. Visit http://www.ets.org/praxis/register/centers_dates to find test dates and testing centers near you. Special notes regarding registering for PRAXIS tests:

Who MUST receive copies of your testing scores?

The Education Department at Dickinson College (Recipient Code RA2186) MUST be indicated as receiving a copy of all PRAXIS scores when you register for any PRAXIS tests.   Also, you MUST indicate PA State Agency (Code 8033) as receiving a copy of your PRAXIS scores as part of the state licensure process. If you miss indicating these two codes upon registering, ETS will charge you $40 if you need to request scores at a later time.

Therefore, when registering on-line or via mail for PRAXIS tests, please answer the following three questions as noted below:

  • Attending Institution?: answer A2186 for Dickinson College
  • Designated Score Recipient(s)?: answer R2186 for Dickinson College
  • Other Passing Score Information?: answer 8033 for PA Dept. of Education

Am I required to give my SSN when registering?

PDE will now be verifying the SSN on the candidates's PDE 338G application form for PA Teaching Certification against the candidate's ETS testing scores.  If there is a discrepancy between the SSN listed on the application and the ETS testing score label, the candidate is responsible for rectifying the situation with ETS before applying for PA certification.  Applications with incorrect SSNs will be returned to the applicant resulting in significant delays in receiving your PA State Teaching Certificate.  Therefore, upon registering for any PRAXIS tests, be sure to enter your SSN correctly.

How do I register for the Computerized version of the PRAXIS I tests?

You may also wish to consider taking the computerized version of the tests on-line at a designated test site at your convenience rather than only at certain pre-appointed times as with the paper and pencil tests.  It also allows you to receive preliminary test results on the Reading and Math tests within minutes of your completion of the tests.

There are 300 test sites throughout the U.S. Each test appointment is two hours long to allow time for check-in, tutorials, and collection of background information. The test site nearest Dickinson is in Harrisburg at the Prometric Testing Center at Paxton Square, 1100 N. Mountain Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112 . To make an appointment, call (717) 652-0143.

If you'd like to take the tests while you're at home during summer, spring, or winter breaks, take a look at the CBT Center List at http://etsis4.ets.org/tcenter to find a center near you.

Prior to making your appointment, you should take a look at the following website http://www.ets.org/praxis/prxcbt.html for additional information regarding fees, etc.
