The first floor of East College was fairly overrun with diminutive Latinists as twenty-seven third through fifth graders arrived for the first meeting of Latin Club. The Club is sponsored by the classics department and taught by Laura Takakjy ('11) and Brendan Boston ('11). It was advertised in several local primary schools, none of which has Latin in the curriculum. The Club will use the new curriculum for exploratory Latin programs devised by Excellence Through Classics (http://www.etclassics.org/), a committee of the American Classical League. A test will be offered in March of 2011 for those who participate all year. The Club meets weekly, on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
