Neil Leary comes to Dickinson College from START, an international science network of developing country institutions and researchers, where he was a Senior Scientist and directed a number of interdisciplinary research, assessment and training programs on climate change. He was one of the leaders of the 2001 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, and continues to be active in the work of the IPCC. Previous positions include senior economist in the Office of Policy of the US Environmental Protection Agency and assistant professor at Middlebury College. Neil has a Ph.D. in natural resource economics from the University of Washington and a BA from Macalester College.

Before coming to Dickinson College in 2011, Lindsey Lyons developed natural resource and sustainability initiatives in higher education for Oregon State University and Wilson College, Pennsylvania. After completing her B.S. in biology from Lynchburg College and a M.S. in environmental education from Southern Oregon University, Lindsey has served as a professor of environmental studies at Wilson College and as director of various non-profit education and conservation organizations. Graduate research focused on the reproductive biology and management of the endangered Devil’s Hole pupfish, a model in desert fish conservation. As a certified K-12 teacher, outdoor school creator, former community extension agent for Oregon State University and experiential education advocate, Lindsey understands that education is key to a sustainable future.

Daniel Webster comes to Dickinson College after completing his B.A. in English at Messiah College in 2009. There he became the founder and co-manager of a student-driven initiative to install an on-campus community garden with a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model.Additionally, he sat on the Sustainability Task Force, lived in an eco-conscious living space, the Restoration House, and served as the college’s first sustainability intern. He has worked in his hometown, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, as a sustainability coordinator, securing grant money to fund farmers’ markets, and won a library grant to research urban agriculture implementation for United States cities. He is a basketball enthusiast, and an MFA candidate at Bennington College’s creative writing program.

Kathleen's professional experiences reflect her passion for education and the environment. Before joining CSE, Kathleen directed the activities of the Governor's PA Chesapeake Bay and Nonpoint Source Pollution Education Offices. She has administered operational budgets, state and federal grants and landowner incentive programs. Kathleen has provided leadership on numerous state and non-profit conservation education boards and has worked extensively with the PA Department of Education's Office of Environment and Ecology. Kathleen is PA certified in the areas of elementary and special education. She has an MED from the Pennsylvania State University in Agricultural and Extension Education. In addition to her work at Dickinson, Kathleen supports activities of Pennsylvania's Water Resources Education Network.

Kristen Brubaker comes to Dickinson’s Center for
Sustainability Education from Penn State University where she earned her Ph.D.
in forest science with a focus on watershed stewardship, geographic information
systems, and remote sensing. She previously obtained a B.S. in earth and space science
education from Penn State University, and M.S. in geosciences from Mississippi
State University in their Teachers in Geosciences program. Prior to beginning
her Ph.D. work, Kristen taught eight grade science in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
She has previously taught GIS and remote sensing courses in the School of
Forest Resources at Penn State and at Susquehanna University. Her research
involves utilizing new LiDAR and other remote sensing data to improve
understanding of hydrologic, soil, and terrain processes impacting forested
landscapes. While at Dickinson she plans to collaborate with faculty and
students on projects incorporating spatial concepts and spatial literacy into
the curriculum across disciplines.
