Media Relations
The Office of Media Relations collaborates with local, national and international media outlets to spread news about Dickinson staff members, faculty, alumni, students, programs and initiatives. Our media experts send press releases to print and broadcast journalists, connect reporters with on-campus experts on a variety of subjects, communicate the college’s stances on major issues facing higher education and disseminate news and information to the on-campus community.
News Releases
Media Relations staff members write and distribute news releases highlighting events and activities on campus that may be of interest to the general public. These releases generate stories and calendar-of-events announcements in local media outlets.
When appropriate, the office also sends news for wider release. Ideally, releases are sent three weeks in advance of an event for maximum media exposure.
On-Campus Communications
The Office of Media Relations distributes information about campus news and events through The Compass and the Morning Rush.
Updated daily, The Compass is an electronic bulletin board listing on-campus news, events and announcements. Each week, members of the campus community receive an e-mail update listing the latest Compass information. Compass announcements also appear in The Morning Rush, which is e-mailed to subscribers daily, and the calendar of events, which is distributed to the media.

Internships
The Office of Media Relations typically employs two student interns each semester. Work-study-eligible students interested in working for the media-relations department may contact Denise Robinson at robinsde@dickinson.edu.
