Group Long Term Care Insurance

Dickinson College is pleased to introduce group long term care insurance, a voluntary benefit that can help protect employees and eligible family members in the event that you find yourselves in a long term care situation.

Long term care can become necessary if you need assistance with some of the activities of daily living, like eating or dressing. It is not just an issue for older people. The need for long term care services can occur at any point during your life, due to accident or illness.

Long term care insurance offers important coverage that is generally not available under medical and long term disability benefits or fully covered through government programs like Medicare or Medicaid. It can help you manage the expenses associated with a nursing home stay and home health care.

Dickinson College has selected John Hancock as our group long term insurance carrier because of its leadership position in the long term care insurance marketplace, its comprehensive benefits and its outstanding customer service.

The enrollment period for the Dickinson College Group Long Term Care Insurance Plan begins October 15, 2007 and ends November 16, 2007. Eligible, actively-at-work employees of Dickinson College who enroll by November 16, 2007, will be accepted without having to provide proof of good health. This means you will be accepted for coverage regardless of your medical history (employees age 70 or older or under age 18 will need to provide proof of good health and be accepted for coverage). If you apply after November 16, 2007, you will be asked to provide proof of good health and must be accepted for coverage. All other applicants must provide proof of good health before they are accepted for coverage, regardless of when they apply.
