Graduating seniors enjoyed one last hurrah with classmates and faculty members during Senior Week. Special events included a pizza social, a gift-drive event and a carnival-like Senior Send-Off.
These graduates had an easy job—to signify their class year, they simply formed two straight lines and an apostrophe. See the official class photo, taken on a rainy Biddle Field, as well as images from an enjoyable-though-soggy Bagel Brunch.
Members of the campus community, joined by family and friends, gathered on Britton Plaza to pay tribute to the class of 2011.
Phi Beta Kappa Induction
Fifty extraordinary members of the class of 2011 were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa during this Saturday ceremony.
Senior Athlete Reception
Dickinson honored graduating student-athletes for their dedication on the field and in the classroom.
Graduating Posse scholars reflected on shared experiences and celebrated a milestone together.
Students offered reflections on the past and hopes for the future in speeches, prayers and songs.
Dickinson's ROTC graduates transformed from students to officers during this commissioning ceremony. The John Dickinson Sabre Award-winner also was named.
Raven's Claw Inductions
Seven new members followed an honored tradition when they formally entered Dickinson College's first society.
Preparations and Procession
At 10 a.m. on Sunday, the graduates straightened their caps and processed, with faculty members and administrators, through the John Dickinson Campus.
Honorary Degrees and Awards
Honorary degrees were awarded to Allan E. Goodman, president and CEO of the Institute of International Education; Harriet Mayor Fulbright, president of the J. William & Harriet Fulbright Center; and James DePriest, conductor, poet and director of conducting and orchestral studies at the Julliard School. Prize-winners Russell Bova, professor of political science, and the class of 2011's Darcy Phillips, Juan Carlos Flores, Thanh To, Erica Hartz and Laura Ives Wilson were among the exceptional Dickinsonians recognized during the Commencement ceremony.
On May 22, 2011, 575 new graduates descended the steps of Old West and ushered in a new chapter of their lives. See photos of the moment they'd all waited for: the conferring of degrees.
After the recessional, the new alumni gathered for snapshots, congratulations and farewells.
