He is finishing his Ph.D. in Economics at the New School for Social Research, and is thrilled to be joining the Department of Economics at Dickinson College. His primary areas of teaching expertise are political economy, macroeconomics, microeconomics, the history of economic thought, and using computer simulations to explore complex economic problems. His dissertation research focuses on applying modern ideas and tools, like computer simulations, to issues in the political economy of advanced capitalist economies. He also conducts research on the macroeconomics of climate change that explores potential avenues for avoiding a climate catastrophe. Prior to studying at the New School, he completed a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.</p>]]></description>

 Alumnae Sora Park ’07 has won a 2013 Fellowship on
 Women and Policy at SUNY Albany and will be working for Assemblywoman Barbara
 Clark for the 2013 legislative session.  Sora is a first year PhD student
 of Public Administration at Rockefeller College of Public Administration and
 Policy at SUNY Albany with specialization in Financial Market Regulation. 
 Originally from South Korea, Sora graduated from Dickinson College with a
 double major in Economics and International Business &amp; Management. 
 She became interested in women’s economic and financial issues while taking the
 senior seminar class on Women in Economy by Professor Ebru Kongar. After receiving her Master’s degree in Economics from SUNY
 Buffalo, she worked in the New York State Assembly for the 2012 legislative
 session as a Graduate Scholar, which provided the opportunity for her to
 understand the public policy making process. She is now enthusiastic to go back
 to the Assembly for another year and work to enhance women’s roles through the
 legislature.</p>]]></description>

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[Economic student, Faith Andrews ’13, is part
of a trio to win a scholarship from the <a href="http://www.daad.org/" target="_blank" title="German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)">German Academic Exchange Service
(DAAD)</a> to study at the University of
Bremen this year.  The three students
also earned Dickinson the top spot in 2011 among colleges and universities in
the U.S. and Canada to receive the award. 
Faith’s outlook on her experience is discussed in the article “Triple

  <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Since the summer of 2009 Professor Bellinger and Jue (Jessie) Wang ('12), a Dickinson economics and mathematics major, have been engaged
in a series of research projects related to the access to retail stores in
inner city neighborhoods.<span>  </span>In 2009 they
completed a detailed study of the South Allison Hill neighborhood in Harrisburg, PA.<span>  </span>This report has been used by the Tri-County
Commission, which operates the Community Development Corporation in South
Allison Hill, to recruit businesses and apply for grants. </p>
<p>The two have also been working with a national data set of
about 40 relatively small U.S. cities to analyze the possible causes of inner
city retail gaps on a broader scale.<span> 
</span>They presented an article on that topic at the 2010 Pennsylvania
Economic Association meetings and are working on 3 articles that will be
submitted to various economic journals this spring.<span>  </span> </p>]]></content:encoded>
