Join fellow Dickinsonians for a conversation with Karl Qualls, Dickinson’s W. Gibbs McKinney Chair in International Education and professor of history.
Known for teaching his history students to write better, Karl Qualls has shifted his pedagogical approach in recent years to get students thinking more about their readers. Now, in addition to research papers, most of his students are tasked with a final project that turns their research into learning materials for middle- and high-school students and their teachers. In this presentation he will show and talk about some of the civic-outreach work students complete as part of his courses on the Holocaust and on modern refugee histories. Reception to follow.
